Mothers Day Gift Guide
Mothers Day is just around the corner and I can't think of a better time to appreciate the women in our lives than now. We have had a wild year with no quick end in sight (all Canadians sigh together) but we have a country and nation full of women who could use a treat day… or month!
I have shared this in the past but this day was not always my favourite of days. I struggled to conceive both my boys and I know many share similar memories or current heartaches during what should be a very remarkable day to celebrate. For those who have lost grandparents, mothers, sisters, neighbours, friends, whoever or are struggling to create a family of their own this day can be a real tough one to swallow. I honestly in my heart believe this day is a representation of a day we celebrate women, as we all play a part in motherhood. I know for myself I could not raise my boys without the help of my sister, my cousin, my mother-in-law, we all play a part in what motherhood looks like and I truly believe this day should be celebrated, motherhood or whatever the circumstance. Mothers Day is a day to reflect, honour and celebrate those beautiful women around you so I have put together a few ideas, material gifts or gifts from the heart, whichever means the most to your loved one as we all receive gifts differently.
Gift Guide:
Fitbit - Now do not get me wrong. If your lady or special woman is not interested at all in fitness or tracking sleep, this gift could give off the wrong message so walk cautiously into this one. However, if your special lady is wanting to be more active now that gyms are closed, wanting to make step goals, wanting to track sleep progression or just wants to make healthier changes overall I could not recommend this little gadget more! I will not take mine off except to charge and physically can not work out without it! I love how it shows your light, deep and rem sleep cycles, your heart rate, accurately tracks your steps and your calories burned for the day. You can also choose different models and different bands so it's a cute fashion accessory as well! Could not recommend more.
2. Face Masks - When I think of a glamour day I think of a few things and a higher-end face mask is one of those things! We ladies like to pamper ourselves with things we don’t love spending money on, but when you do it becomes a luxury that we can now enjoy guilt-free! I have tried many of these products or brands and love the different mask options and outcomes and your skin always feels pampered and amazing which is the goal of this day!
3. Breakfast in Bed - Now I know this is a classic Mothers Day move, but honestly this pampering means a ton. Running into the bedroom with homemade breakfast, coffee and hopefully a mimosa or two with the kiddos around you offering cuddles and smiles, what better way is there to celebrate those hard-working mamas? During this crazy time doing this for our loved ladies in another home may be impossible but the idea is not - why not ship them a breakfast in bed tray and skip the dishes their favourite brunch spot right to their door to enjoy in their bed? The bonus here is the purchase of a bed tray implies these in-bed breakfast opportunities could continue throughout the year - brownie points!
4. Jewellery - What lovely lady does not love jewellery? Finding quality pieces that don’t cost an arm and a leg can be tough, and you do not want to be that person buying items that turn someone's skin green. Just yuck. I have purchased from this store a few times now and they carry quality items that wear beautifully at a fraction of other retailers' cost! Highly recommend. HURRY - they sell out fast!
5. Bathtub Caddy - So this item comes with a time commitment, I think if this is a gift you give this comes with some mama-free bedtimes where SO puts kiddos to bed and the mama gets a kid-free evening - its the gift that keeps on giving! Paired with some nice bath salts and a bottle of wine, you can thank me later!
6. Spa Gift Card - I know this one may vary provincially or by which country you reside but this one is a no-brainer. What women on this earth wouldn’t love at least one spa treatment? Some ladies don’t love being pampered this way, which I will never understand, but typically you can book a spa mani or Pedi and make any ladies day. If your lady loves the spa, invest in a spa package because she will come back a refreshed woman ready to take on life once again which is what this day is all about! Refresh, renew, recharge!
7. Pre-booked Night Away without Kids - Hubby, are you reading this? Did you get this far? This is probably the number one item on my list and I don’t mean on Mothers Day, which is a day to spend with my kids and a bit of alone time. However, walking into my room with breakfast saying pack your bags, tomorrow or next weekend were booked in the mountains for a one-night getaway? This mama's heart is all full and the day is made. Ladies, mamas, soon-to-be mamas, whoever it is needs time away from normal life and into nature, and I know that seems difficult during these times but now more than ever we need a BREAK! Book that hotel, maybe a spa treatment, order in takeout and pamper your loved one!
8. Perfume - This is something I have never invested much into but I have always loved receiving as a gift! My best friend got me perfume for my birthday one year and I only use it on special occasions and the scent always reminds me of her and of all my favourite times because I use it when I have those fun or meaningful nights. Scent ties memories back to you and I think this is a great investment, though annoying how costly it may be, but it's an added luxury she may never purchase for herself. What better occasion than this?
9. An Outdoor Picnic setup for Two - Okay… number seven and number nine are my favourites I have to admit. If I was to walk outside (weather permitting) to a picnic set up with some wine or sparkly, a projector playing our favourite movie on a screen or sheet, our favourite snacks and a ton of blankets and pillows - that is a celebration day to remember. It is also one you can repeat for at-home date nights throughout the summer and fall evenings! Again, the gift that keeps on giving.
I hope this gift guide helps inspire you on how to celebrate the most important women in your life whether it be your wives, mamas, grandmamas, neighbours, best friends, whoever it may be. This has been a tough year for us all and there are so many ways to celebrate and appreciate these important people during this different time in our lives when they probably need it the most!
Let me know in the comments down below which idea is your favourite and what you plan on doing to celebrate your loved ones!
Happy Mothers Day to all you lovely ladies out there!
