Somewhere in the Rockies

Experiences and adventures in the Rocky Mountains are one of our most loved hobbies, and finding hidden gems such as Mount Engadine Lodge is our favourite thing. This precious location found tucked way into the middle of trees and the most gorgeous mountains is one I would highly recommend, so enjoy the photos we took of our way too short visit and comment below if you have any questions!

Our trip began a bit rocky as our son suddenly came down with the flu, which delayed our trip by a few hours forcing us to travel through the snow-covered roads in the dark. I’m not going to lie, I am a bit of an anxious person. I was quite worried about the dark winding roads, but was pleasantly surprised by how wide and not steep they were! We did miss the views going up, but coming down was breathtaking, so if you are planning a trip up I would recommend you enjoy it before sunset!

This beautiful building pictured below is the gorgeous and cozy lodge where you check-in, has a few rooms to stay in, snowshoes and other complementary options (click here to see their website for the full list), a sauna, dining room and the coziest places to curl up in front of a wood-burning fire(with the best options of board games you can enjoy - and we most definitely took advantage of that)!

The history of the lodge was so evident throughout the entire location. It was started by two Swiss/Austrian couples who came together and built the stunning main Lodge filled with the most gorgeous and ornate carvings and details through the entire dining and main areas showing all the love and passions these people had for this Lodge. We had the privilege of dining with a couple who has been coming to Mount Engadine Lodge nearly since its inception, and hearing about their love and stories of all the adventures they had with the owners and staff of the lodge made me wish I had known about this place much earlier.

We had the ever-so-rare opportunity to enjoy a two-night kidless stay, so we wanted to experience all we could while we had the freedom to do so! We decided to spend one of our nights in the Birchwood cabin and the second in one of the Glamping tents which we will show you soon (above photos are of the cabins and the mountains behind them).

The Birdwood cabin had this STUNNING window seat which overlooked the mountains and the meadow below, a huge shared balcony, queen size bed, and full bathroom with a shower and toiletries from Rocky Mountain Soap!

I walked onto the balcony on our first night and honestly could not believe my eyes. Never in my life have I seen so many stars in the sky, I was at a loss for words as I stared up into the sky for probably longer than I should have in the cold! That and the most amazing sunrise I have ever seen made the experience life-changing.

Food at Mount Engadine

The way they serve and plan out food at the Lodge is such a different experience and one you have to see for yourself! Breakfast and dinner are both family-style events in which you sit around a large table (depending on how many people are booked into the hotel at the time) and enjoy your meal over conversation with the other guests, getting to know them, where they’re from and other amazing stories about their experiences at the Lodge! While staying there, you also get a bagged lunch to take on adventures and afternoon tea which is a delicious charcuterie board.

One thing Paul and I were dying to try was snowshoeing and you can borrow the complimentary snowshoes at the Lodge, so we took the opportunity and was it ever a blast! I can't believe it took me this long to try, but I haven’t laughed that hard in quite some time! We snowshoed through the meadow and enjoyed our private packed lunch tucked into the trees overlooking the meadow and the lodge ahead. I highly recommend.

After warming up and enjoying our afternoon tea, we checked into our next overnight location in the Glamping tents. In these tents, you enjoy your private balcony, a king-size bed that can be pushed into two separate beds, a gas heating system, a pull-out couch, and a full bathroom with a stand-up shower. I’m not going to lie, this was one of the coolest places I’ve slept in, and I would love to try it out in Summer as well to see the difference! It was warm, cozy, comfortable and VERY private!

We had the best experience at Mount Engadine Lodge with incredibly friendly staff, the coziest accommodations and the greatest views, and we HIGHLY recommend!
