Home-made Sweet Potato Fries

I have looked high and low for a mostly healthy sweet potato/yam fry you can make from home that doesn’t just flop everywhere, and I have tried over and over to wind up with soggy fries or ones that are so unhealthy they may as well be deep fried! Well look no further, I have found success and I’m here to share it with you!

Ingredients

  • 1 large sweet potato

  • 1 tbsp corn starch

  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 1 tbsp chili powder

  • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder

  • salt and pepper

  • Olive oil

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees

  2. Cut up the sweet potato into long thin strips. I find if they’re too chunky they wont crisp up so keep them as thin as you like

  3. Put all your fries in water to soak as the oven preheats.

  4. Combine all the dry ingredients together in a small bowl. Be sure to mix well so there are no white clumps, those do not taste good.

  5. Drain the sweet potato fries and dab dry with a paper towel

  6. Coat the fries in a small amount of oil until all are equally coated. Add 2/3 of the dry ingredients and mix well.

  7. Spread fries over a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure that all fries are laying flat and not on top of each other

  8. Sprinkle the rest of the dry mix on top equally

  9. Place on the bottom rack and bake for 12 minutes, then flip. Make sure to flip every single fry as they will not crisp up evenly. Bake for another 12 minutes

  10. You’re done! Enjoy the yummy fries!
